RANCHI, India (AP) — Joe Root finished unbeaten on 122 as England scored 353 runs to conclude its first innings early on Day 2 of the fourth cricket test against India on Saturday.
In reply, India was 34-1 in 10 overs at lunch, with in-form batters Yashasvi Jaiswal (27 not out) and Shubman Gill (4) at the crease. The home side trailed by 319 runs.
Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja took 4-67 for India as the visitors lost the last three wickets for six runs. Debutant pacer Akash Deep finished with 3-83 from 19 overs.
India leads the series 2-1 after a

in the third test at Rajkot. It also won the second test inVisakhapatnam by 106 runs
after England won thefirst test in Hyderabad by 28 runs
.Starting from an overnight 302-7 on Saturday, Root helped England add another 51 runs to its first innings. The former England skipper stayed unbeaten till the end, facing 274 balls, including 10 fours.
Ollie Robinson, playing his first match of the series, scored a maiden test half-century off 81 balls. He added 102 runs for the eighth wicket with Root — a partnership that had rescued England from 245-7 on the first day after England won the toss.
